Tent Care & Cleaning

Taking care of your tent prolongs the life and use of any tent. If you are an occasional camper or serious backpacker, caring for your tent is essential in keeping your tent mildew free. Tent Days is dedicated to providing not only camping products, but tips to keep your purchases safe and durable - no matter the conditions or climate your outdoor spirit takes you.

We strive to sell one tent, to one person or family for an extended or lifetime period - not one tent every few years. Following the tips below will allow you to get the most out of your tent and enjoy your camping experience year after year after year!

If you have specific tent cleaning questions, feel free to email our tent care experts. If we don't know, we'll contact your manufacturer directly and get the best advice for your specific problem.

Tent Cleaning Instructions:

  • While the tent is setup, using lukewarm water, wipe the tent down with a mild soap. (*Liquid hand soaps are generally very mild and can be used for tent cleaning.)
  • Ensure that you clean any zippers with water, particularly if you have used the tent in a sandy area to ensure that your tent zipper stays intact without failure.
  • Tent poles can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. If you have been camping near salty water, it is particularly important that you clean tent poles to avoid corrosion which can be caused by the salt water mist.
  • Rinse the tent thoroughly.
  • Let the tent dry completely to avoid mildew. To ensure dryness, check the heavy seam areas for wetness.
